Overview
When you add a domain to Resend, you may see this error:The example.com domain has been registered already.
This means the domain is currently associated with a different Resend account. A domain can only be active on one Resend account at a time.
Why This Happens
Common reasons a domain may already be registered:- A team member or contractor added it to a separate account.
- You are logged into a different account than the one where the domain was originally added.
How to Resolve It
Check your existing accounts first
- Check with your team to see if someone is already using Resend.
- Make sure you’re logged into the right account.
Claim the domain
If the domain belongs to a different team and you can prove ownership, you can claim it through a self-serve process:- Go to Domains and click Add Domain.
- Enter the domain name and submit the form.
- A prompt will appear explaining that the domain is in use by another Resend team. Click Start claim to begin.
- Add the DNS TXT record provided to your domain’s DNS settings to prove ownership.
